SANFORD FARGO MEDICAL CENTER

Fargo, ND

DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT:

The new 1 million square foot facility will bring Level 1 trauma services to the region and is located on 109-acre site that was chosen for accessibility. Designed in a timeless, collegiate gothic architectural style, the 11-story, 384-bed medical center will incorporate LEED standards and has four hospital towers that enable all patient rooms to have large windows with unobstructed views.

Medical services to be housed in the new building include children’s/Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), trauma/operating rooms, orthopedics/neurosurgery, heart surgery/interventional cardiology and emergency services. The project is expected to involve 700 to 800 workers throughout construction and is one of the top 10 largest healthcare construction projects in the nation.

MAJOR CHALLENGE:

Hospital work has its own unique set of challenges related to complex M&E systems which require high levels of coordination between trades. A significant amount of manpower will be required to complete this large project in an already busy market. Olympic started work on this project in June 2014 and the new Medical Center opened in 2017.
